    Auto start honda EU3000IS generator

So i would like to be able to start my generator remotely if power goes out.

This generator has a key, when you turn it to start position it cranks the starter.

Anyone have any idea how to make this work with apex fusion?

    Typical operational start @ :40

You could wire in a relay to be activated with a 24vdc output from an eb832 or 1Link. But don't know how you'll get around the choke.

How do you plan to wire it into your system?

Honestly it is not worth your time to modify this one to become auto start. The complexity and parts required to have a timed engage of the start command and choke is going to require significantly more invested than just selling this one and buying an equivalent one with "two-wire start" capabilities and also has the disadvantage of voiding your generator warranty and removing its UL listing (can have insurance repercussions as well).

I would just sell this, pay a small price difference and get a two wire auto start in 24V. Plug an acc port into the 24V auto start, put an energy bar on a UPS (just large enough to handle full load), and plug the aux power supply in an outlet that the generator wont power. Set the 24V outlet to

    Set OFF
If Power Apex Off 001 Then ON

This will start and hold the generator while power is out and shut it off as soon as power returns. The UPS will keep everything running while the generator starts up and keep the apex online.

I installed an autochoke kit on this.

This generator is legendary for reliability.

I appreciate the feedback Zombie but why do you have to be such a negative nancy?

Im sure there is a way to do this reasonably.

If you are reasonably handy with electronics, you could combine something like this with a 24V relay to close the wires when 24V is sent.

Still has the issue of voiding the warranty for the generator.

Zombie is definitely a negative nancy.

But I have learned that when it comes to electronics and our hobby (water), his perspective, leaning towards the conservative approach (and safety) is on target. He has significant engineering knowledge in connectivity, voltage, amps, interoperability, etc.

I have the Yamaha equivalent to your Honda Inverter. They are both super appliances.....but they are not really designed to be permanently patched into anything. They are designed to be pulled out of the garage and topped off with fuel. You then can plug the needful into them. That is what they do best by design. So when you say reliable, you are correct.....given the appropriate application.

Ok, so how can we make this work? They sell a “remote control kit” would the guts of this kit help to make this happen?

That is a wireless setup, which doesn't include the necessary items like output feedback to stop the cranking once its started and would be a pain to modify for a 24V signal. The one I linked 2 posts above or another "two-wire control kit" with a 24V relay to activate is as easy as this conversion could possibly get.
