FMM/ATO issues when ATO reservoir is refilled

So every time I fill the ATO reservoir to capacity (10 gallons) the FMM seems to hiccup and keeps filling it until either the high switch is closed or the float raises high enough.

Can’t figure out what is the cause.
    TIA

Maybe not clear as I thought I wrote it-
Essentially when I fill the ATO reservoir to the top-
A lot more water than expected gets pulled into the sump-
Where normally it stops when the low optical switch is closed and works fine-

In these specific events (full ato top off) it does not and will continue to run until either the high optical switch closes or the float stops it-not sure which safety works here.

    Hope this clarifies the issue.
    Thanks

Essentially that was entirely filled last night.
I realized it was running too long and shut it off but then set it to auto and it still malfunctioned.

It sounds like a siphon is forming whenever the water level in the reservoir is higher than the water level in the sump. Are you using the siphon break included w/ the ATK?

Oops... I was replying while you posted the picture of the reservoir. Make sure that the 1mm hole in the side of the siphon break is not obstructed.

The siphon break is being used. The water level is higher per se but..I have the tubing going up from the ATO that should be preventing that so I am def puzzled.

Gotcha. I was wondering if that could be causing an issue. I’ll fasten it so the water doesn’t obscure the siphon break.

Is the output of the ATK (aka the float valve) above the water line of the ATO at all times? Or is it below the water line when the reservoir is refilled?

Good question. I need to bust out a ruler for that. But what is the impact if it’s not?
Shouldn’t the sensors (and float) be responsible for triggering the pump?

    Thanks

If the output of the ATK is below the waterline of the reservoir, it will siphon. Which causes the situation that you are experiencing. The siphon break is supposed to stop that but if it is submerged or blocked, then it will still happen.
