Radion G4 xr30w pro: Intensity vs Color Balance mechanics clarification.

Likely an old question but I can't seem to dig up an answer here or on YouTube and certainly not on their site. Since there is no actual intensity "slider" I need clarification.

Tell me if I'm right or wrong.
The color balance sliders are simply the proportional mix of color channels whereas the line graph represents % intensity (par)?

IE: if whites are 25% and blues are 50% @ an overall line graph intensity of 60% that would be the same color balance and intensity (par) as 50% whites and 100% blues @ 60% overall line graph intensity.

    Correct?

The main issue I'm over thinking is that the sum of the color channels don't have to add up to 100 which implies they are also controlling intensity.

In your example, 25% white and 50% blue at 60% is equivalent to 50% white and 100% blue at 30%

Thanks for the reply on a holiday weekend!

So both affect the intensity? That seems problematic...

Are you aware of plans to correct this doubling up on the intensity or is it a flaw in the root programming by Ecotech?

I am not a support rep, just a bored engineer.

Both affect the intensity, and it's based on how the light itself operates.

Terrance was nice enough to shoot me a brief reply and I spoke to Ecotech as well. It's an Apex programming error and at this point they do not intend to correct it.

Not sure what the beef is between these two premium companies and if Ecotech isn't sharing enough to properly program or if the original program is simply flawed and we're too far in to change it and guarantee a person's true output is maintained.

If the latter, an optional upgrade with a warning that you'll need to re-program your lights seems like a good idea to me. The addition of an equation to calculate each color channel's true output intensity relative to the fixture's ability would help.

More or less, once ecotech came out with the reeflink they have seen the apex as a competing product rather than a third party upgrade and have refused to provide APIs to Neptune like they once did. Without those APIs, Neptune would have to invest serious man hours to reverse engineer the protocols, which can sometimes have legal repercussions. Neptune probably doesn't want to take that risk, and Ecotech is likely using the lack of Neptune support for things like the Vectra as a way to smear Neptune and sell more reeflinks.

Makes sense to me and leads me back to my original suspicion.

Seems like a loosing proposition to ecotech as I would never buy their lights again but I'd buy another Apex.
