    Manual Control

So I have a reef aquarium...

    And an apex! Thank god!

Now I have LED lights on my aquarium! How odd.

Now i wanted my apex to control my lights, what a request! And It does! Thru 1-10 variable speed port Thank god.

Now the apex allows sophisticated control of the leds, it’s not perfect, since I have two vsp and two channels and the fusion was not designed to work with a setup like this, even if it very simple, but there are work around and in general it works.

Now I want to control the leds manually, you know for cleaning, yes I could utilize the feed cycles. But it’s too complex. Yes I could use a button/switch that I program and build my self, but it’s complex and not free, also I want to control the level as well, without even more programming.

So you mean in general, the apex can control the Lights but I can’t. Basically yes. This is insane!

Can I get a slider in fusion? Is it so hard? Probably 10 lines of code in fusion.

    Thx

And does every one need to use the slider? Of course not.

Only if it’s dragged into fusion control screen. The slider would have 1-10 steps and of course auto. There would be some simple optional programming that would switch the switch to auto, if programming returns true.

They added that feature in the classic dashboard for the apex classic, but they never added it to fusion. If or when they ever add that feature is anybodies guess, but I don't think they will.

It's actually incredibly simple to change the intensity based on a feed mode or virtual outlet. Say you want it to drop to 10% when feed D is active, go to the gear icon in the wizard and add this to the advanced tab

    If FeedD 000 Then 10

    Similarly for a virtual outlet

If Output VOname = ON Then 10

    Manual Control

Thanks for the info, I did not know regarding local apex.

It would be really cool if the slider, could be a real slider! So I could place it near the tank and ramp up the lights manually. That would require ardrino and a lever. To somehow set a variable (percentage) in fusion as an override value for the vsp. Maybe i can override the vsp input from the apex with a switch.

In otherwords, to control my lights I need to deactivate the Apex !

    Zombie, regarding your comment.

Most of the time, I don’t know how long it will take me to clean my tank.. therefore I have to keep hitting feed button ever so often

Set the duration longer than it typically takes. If it takes longer, press it again. If it takes shorter, hit cancel when you're done.
