    Maxspect Gyre XF330 with Apex

    Hi guys!

I’m new to the forum/Apex, just setting up my new Red Sea Reefer 525 and looking at gyre options...can anyone suggest what I need to buy in order to get the most from the gyre through my Apex?

    Thanks in advance

    Jamie

At the point in time, there is no way to fully control a XF330 with the Apex. You can power it ON & OFF, that's it. The IceCap Gyre Interface Module for the older XF130 & XF230 pumps does not work with the newer 330... that may change though.
Please do not send me PMs with technical questions or requesting assistance - use the forums for Apex help. PM me ONLY if the matter is of a private or personal nature. Thanks.

Hi Russ, wasn’t aware of that...good job I didn’t buy one! I’m planning on setting up FOWLR, what would you recommend for use with my Apex? Been looking at WAV but they’re pricey. Any suggestions?

WAVs are very quiet, powerful and truly plug and play ... A single cable to the system will do.

After you price out the other comparable wavemakers and a separate interface ... The true price is IMHO very competitive.

Fair comment, I suppose if you want all the options to be able to tweak, the WAV is a better choice.

Could someone confirm, if I purchase a maxspect gyre XF230 (pump only) what I need to connect it to my Apex...I’m guessing a power cable for the gyre and the IcaCap module? Does the icecap plug directly into the apex?

You need the ice cap and the power supply if you get the pump only. The ice cap does come with a cable to connect to the apex if you don't intend to control direction and intensity. If you want to control both, you need this cable as well

Does this cable work with the dual pump setup?

No. It requires an ice cap apex adapter and you need one of those adapters per pump.

The dual controller doesn't have 0-10V input. The ice cap apex adapter is a third party solution that gave full apex control to a pump that otherwise didn't have it.
