Best way to control a chiller?

I'm starting to look into the Apex system and would like to know the best way to control (on/off) a 1/4 hp chiller.

I would set it to run on it's own thermostat and just shut it off when temp is low since you are encroaching on the 7A outlet limit.

    Ex

    Fallback OFF
    Set ON
If Temp < 79.0 Then OFF
    Min Time 030:00 Then OFF

    Fallback OFF
If SumTmp > 77.8 Then ON
If SumTmp < 76.5 Then OFF

I run mine like this, off my Apex Temp probe. Set temp on my 1/10HP chiller is 77F. As many know, a power surge can cause your JBJ Artica chiller to reset its internal "set" temp to 54F thereby freezing your tank. I have seen this happen to countless shop customers over the last 10 years. If it runs at that temp too long then most people have significant losses and of that many leave the hobby.

This was the only way for me to log when the chiller is actually turning on which I like to verify with remote access. If its always ON, then I don't see it on the chart outside of Amps.

I haven't had a problem running like this for the last year. I have never had an Apex Temp probe problem in the last 10 years so I feel it is reliable as the control. My chiller rarely goes on since I switched over to RO Vario-S return pump and the Regal skimmer (also running Varios). Very little heat transfer now. Only during those Aug- Oct heat waves.

Other than the code to run the chiller, it would be very important to include specific code in the email alarm to alert you if the temperature swings outside a safe range. Also make sure that the email program alerts you by SMS/email and direct notifications.
