Using Apex Fusion in Read ONLY mode.

Is it possible to use the fusion in Read-Only Mode?

In other words only allow programming and firmware updates on apex.local vs. via apex fusion.

I'd use fusion to only oversee the different apexes, for graphing etc., but if somebody was to gain access they couldnt change anything.

Give the user view only access.

I see what you're saying but I am trying to prevent any changes from outside and lock it to local changes/updates ONLY

The only way that would happen is if someone wanted to access your fusion account and somehow got your password.

To be 100%, remove it from your Fusion account and use the Apex in locked AP mode.

Or use a password that is hard to guess.

Why? What is your concern? That would effectively negate one of the biggest benefits of APEX Fusion.

If you are the owner of an Apex ("owner" meaning the account holder to which the Apex was originally linked), you have full control. Limiting the owner's access is not an option.

Russ, before I answer your question, let me ask another.

    S0 here is the thing.

When logged on via Fusion I go to setting>outlets and modify an outlet on either the classic or Jr and I hit the upload button and the configuration is not saved (time out)

When I do the same thing for the new APEX, it goes through.

    What gives?

Using the Classic Dashboard on each of those older models, go to Configuration->Network Setup. There is an option named "Apex Fusion Control Enable". Enable it if it is disabled, then reboot the Apex. Years ago when APEX Fusion was first introduced, "Disabled" was the default setting, but that was changed to Enabled by default a long time ago.

Yes. 2016 apex uses a different system that can't be enabled or disabled.

    I like having options.

I look at local access as far more secure than cloud access.

For that reason I loved reeftronics. It graphed staff over time like fusion now does but all changes had to be done locally or via secure VPN.

Reeftronics was far less secure than fusion comms. Everything is encrypted gibberish as far as a would be hacker is concerned there. Reeftronics required port forwarding, which hackers can easily exploit.
