Upgrade from Apex Lite to Apex Classic firmware?

Hello,

So due to finances I had to leave the SW Aquarium hobby last year, and I realize that I simply cannot afford to get back into it for quite a few more years (new baby on the way). So for now I'm selling my Apex Lite with all the extra modules to a friend who is getting into the hobby.

What I'm now seeing, is that the Apex lite is discontinued. What I want to know, is there a way to flash this device so that it is seen as an Apex Classic?

This would just make it easier for the new owner to know what he has.

No. The three Classic Apex models (Apex Classic, Apex Lite, & Apex Jr). differ some in their hardware, but all use the exact same firmware.

I remember a few years ago, there was a paid option to upgrade from Lite to Classic, and from what I understand, it was purely a firmware update. The light has the exact same plugs, (and I remember somebody disassembling one, and it had identical IC circuitry, and board design).

You must be confusing this with another company or something. A lite to classic upgrade is not possible. The classic has hardware that is not present in the lite (extra pH, varspd ports). They have always used the same firmware in the 7 years I have owned at least one.

Ahh yeah, you are correct. I did have them mixed up.
