    Apex dropping off of network

I have an old Apex Classic Lite I took out of storage to put on a tank in my office. It was working perfectly before it was pulled out of service when I replaced it with a 2016 Apex. For some reason, it is dropping off of the network after about a day. I don't have a display connected to it so I can't see what it's doing when it drops off of the network but I have confirmed the network and cabling is fine (I also happen to the IT guy for the company where the tank is). I have initialized all a few times and also re-flashed the firmware. I can't think of anything else it could be. I also have the unit plugged into a 12v adapter so it can do power monitoring. I can't think of anything else to try before declaring it junk. The status light on the base and EB8 is green when this happens. If I pull the power, the unit comes back online.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

Have you tried setting the ip to static?

Is it dropping off the local network or just losing comms with fusion? If the latter, changing your secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8 might help.

I have it being monitored by my network monitoring software. It literally stops replying to pings so it's not a DNS issue.

If you write down the mac address, does it show up as an arp entry on a different ip or something possibly when this issue happens?

Does the ethernet still show link and activity lights when this issue happens?

Just to followup on this, I have opened a support ticket on this. It appears something is going on with the firmware in the unit. I will update everyone when we come to a conclusion.

Turns out the base unit is bad. The flash chip in the unit has failed. I ended up purchasing a new 2016 base unit to replace it.

    Hopefully at a good discount.
