    COR-15 submerged

I am considering replacing my Tunze return pump with a COR-15. Since I have limited space in the cabinet, I would prefer to continue having the return pump submerged in the sump. However, shouldn't the COR pump have some kind of grid in front of the intake for submerged use? Further, the outlet will be connected to a silicone hose. So also here I miss some fittings. Is there a kit with fittings for submerged operation available?

It's not necessary, but others have 3D printed guards that screw onto the pump to protect the impeller. I would just make sure that the return chamber where the pump is going is free of snails, and other things that can get sucked up into the pump and damage it.

The Vectra M1 barb & screen kit fits the COR-15.

Thanks for this advice. Can you clarify a bit further. Is anything else needed or does the kit just attach to the Cor 15. The Cor has no threaded connection so was wondering how it holds the kit together.

I didn't even check that as I already had my plumbing set-up complete. I was just looking for something to prevent the occasional stray chaeto from getting sucked in. Unfortunately, I can't check now since I just recycled the other parts; but as far as the screen goes...like it's made for the pump...

I made this strainer. Let me know if you are interested in one.

My COR-20 is submerged in the return section of my Reefer XL 425 and running without a strainer for the past year with no problem. There's a foam filter in the baffles between the skimmer chamber and the return chamber which traps most stray debris, so only fine detritus ever makes it to my pump intake.
