Can someone point me to a link to get this cable? I keep finding active repeater cables. I need a 50 ft and a 30 ft cable.
Thanks in advance

Made just for use with Apex.

I just bought these and have a 45ft cable working currently:

Thanks a bunch. I knew I saw it somewhere before, just couldn't find it again.
Happy Holidays to you Sir.
Ouch. $50 was touch for me to swallow when I could spend $10 and get the same thing.
Post the link where you can get a 50' USB cable for $10.

I understand what you are saying. I wanted one continuous cable. In my experience, every junction is another possible point of failure, and it will be exposed to alot of saltwater. It is for a coral growout.

In theory at least, each additional junction increases the resistance of the overall cable run (which may result in signal loss), and also may increase susceptibility to electronic noise. In real life, it's probably not an issue. I've tested with 4x 15' USB cables, and it worked fine. The biggest real-life problem I see with multiple cables is that the USB connectors don't lock together, and can easily be pulled apart. This can be handled though - electrical tape on the union, creative use of zipties, etc. A single cable is much easier too if you are need to fish it through walls.

I planned to use electric tape on mine since they will be hanging down the wall.
Something to consider...you've got a $500+ controller, perhaps $,000's of livestock and coral. If the communications between the controller and other modules becomes suspect and an outlet doesn't turn ON or OFF when it should...was it really worth the $40 savings in the cable?
Not looking for a flame war - just saying.

Has Anyone tried the USB over Ethernet adapters with their Apex? I know they use power from the bus just not sure if they can handle the 12v from the apex.
Don't even try it - they will probably fry.

It's easy enough to use a USB wall outlet adapter anyway. The apex has to be near an outlet so you're already close to one.

Careful there - Aquabus <> USB

Is this actually true? Is there something magical about the Aquabus cable that makes it different from a USB cable? I know it doesn't implement the USB communication protocol, but in this case, isn't a wire a wire? If you can use a USB extender it's obviously the same thing cable-wise.
So this raises the question....
What about putting USB-A ends on an Ethernet cable (as seen here: http://youtu.be/7iSC9yXxVVc?t=3m51s), would this work?
