Webpages update failed on high.js, error 413?

    Hi all,

I have the Apex connected to the same switch as my laptop, wireless disabled, booted into safe mode with networking, cleared the cache. Can't find anything that makes a difference. The firmware updated fine. The webpages, not so much.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Brandon

Ok, this is strange... its showing up as the new webpages when I log in, despite having received a failed message. This makes me nervous. Any ideas?

You're probably missing some of the files. Just try again to load the web pages. It won't hurt anything to do it multiple times.

I've tried about 20 times now. I've tried all I can think of. Safemode, manually unloaded Trendmicro, etc. I'm going to try using my desktop when I get home and see if there's something funky with my laptop. I've tried all suggestions on here... I think that's the only thing left.

You can try to download the update from Neptune again. Maybe something got hosed up that way.

Nothing is wireless, right? laptop -> router -> apex is all wired?

I tried that, also. I've made sure both my computer and the Apex had a static IP, I tried logging into a local account, domain account, and tried booting into safe mode. The Apex and my computer are both on the same switch. Its a gigabit switch in my office, but I may try to find another one just to eliminate the possibility its interfering. I always disable wireless at work and use the hardwired connection.

Thank you for your help! I've also emailed Neptune, just in case they may have more info on the 413 error.

Up next, I'm going to try telneting into the Apex and deleting the existing high.js per this thread: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1723124

    Maybe that'll work.

And no dice. It never makes it to the unit, so I couldn't delete it. :-/

I tried deleting all of the files that were uploaded before it... no help there, either.

Have you tried connecting your laptop directly to the controller (no switch or router)?

Not yet, but I may try that in a few minutes. I'm conducting an interview in about 10 minutes, so it will have to wait until after that. I was able to remove the high.js file out of the directory and copy all files except that one to the Apex. That allowed my outlet setup to work. Well, the webpage loads, at least.

Tried it again when I got home on a different computer. Still not working. May have to send it in, I suppose. I'm not sure there are too many options left, but I'll check with Neptune.

Ok, got this fixed, thanks to Neptune's support. The log files I had in my system were so big that it didn't leave enough room to update the high.js file.

To solve this, you will need to telnet into your Apex and delete as many old log files as possible. This Apex hadn't been used in about a year or so and the log files were old and huge.

Follow the instructions in the reference manual to telnet into your unit.

Once you're in, type in "dir logs" and press enter. This will show you all of the log files that are in your Apex. They are named by date, so if there are any over 30 days old or if you don't mind losing data, delete them.

To delete them, type in "del logs/[logname].odat" or "del logs/[logname].pdat", depending on the extension of the file you'd like to delete. You will know the [logname] by doing the "dir logs" command, which will show you all of the logs contained on your unit. They are named by date with year, month, day I think. Most of mine were something like "120624.odat" for June 24th, 2012. It will make sense once you see it.

Hope this helps someone! And I have to say, Neptune's support was awesome. They emailed me back within an hour after I first submitted my ticket to them. Makes me feel really great about having stuck with an Apex instead of getting another product! Now to go install all of this stuff in the garage.

    Thanks for your help, aquamaniac!

Here's a screenshot for those visual learners out there:

In this pic, I went through this morning and deleted all old logs that weren't from 2014.

Webpages update failed on high.js, error 413?

Ack! You did it the hard way Sir!

There's a special command to purge the oldest set of log files: logdel. Much easier than typing out the path/file name for each log file.

See page 123 in the comprehensive reference manual.

Why didn't Neptune tell me this?

I'm back to not working, anyway. I'm going to start a new thread for it, though.
