    Understanding Apex Firmware versions

Apex firmware (Apex Operating System) version number appears like this in Apex Fusion, Apex Local, the Classic Dashboard, and on the display module self-test screen:

    V.VV_MBYY
    or
    V.VVX_MBYY

V.VV - This is the version number

    • Apex Classic-family controllers are 4th generation controllers, so the first digit will always be “4" for Apex Classic, Apex Lite, and Apex Jr
    • Apex and Apex EL are 5th generation controllers, so the first digit will always be “5" for Apex and Apex EL
    • The next two digits represent the version number within that family of Apexes.

X - Apex Model - This will be “L” for Apex Lite or Apex EL, “J” for Apex Jr, and will not be present for Apex Classic or Apex.

M - Month – the number of the month of release, as a hexadecimal number, 1-9 (Jan-Sep) or A-C (Oct-Dec)

B - Build – a sequential letter for the particular build in any given month, starting with “A”, For example, 4.31_3C14 is the third build of firmware done in March of 2014

YY - Year – the last two digits of the year of release

    Examples:

5.05_7A18 is major version 5.05, is the first build made in July of 2018, and is running on an Apex

4.31J_3B14 is major version 4.31, is the second build made in March of 2014, and is running on an Apex Jr

4.53L_4D19 is major version 4.53, is the fourth build made in April of 2019, and is running on an Apex Lite.

Please do not send me PMs with technical questions or requesting assistance - use the forums for Apex help. PM me ONLY if the matter is of a private or personal nature. Thanks.
