Has anyone tried led tape, ribbon, strip lights?
It looks like it might be a nice setup...waterproof also.

Plug it into EB8, then get the magnetic reed switches on the cabinet doors, and hook it up to the break out box (BOB).

I have a similar set on the side of my camper. It's been used extensively for 2 springs, 2 summers and 2 falls of camping here on Long Island. It has also gone through one cold, snowy winter. The camper has spent 150-200 nights at the beach in those two years so it's been up against the weather.

It still works perfectly so I'm sure it will work great for your purpose.

I have something similar for my sump lighting & my canopy work lights. I also have it wired into Rapid LED 0-10v controllers and hooked up to my VarSpd outlets on my Apex and have the activating switched be a magnetic switches for the canopy & sump doors and also have different intensity of the lights so I can have them be bright or dim.

Youre gonna want no less than 20W to keep that lit enough to see good and at least 30W to see well. I didnt see mention to 3528 or 5050 in the links.

    Here's a link regarding size....3528 & 5050...look at the first image

    http://m.ebay.com/itm/161461317359?_mwBanner=1

I think they are 4.8 watts to 9 w per meter. if i had 42" in front then 24" one side...total 66" of light space.
1 meter is 39.3701" .....so it sounds like I might only have around 10W of light approximately. A little rushed I will have to look at the numbers one more time.

    Good reference for watts http://www.ledlightsworld.com/page.html?id=38

    Here we go.
If I get the white lights with 600 leds it's 2,475 lumens for 5 meters

If I use 1 meter of lights
    2,475/5 =495 lumens

    That's about a 60 watts of light

    I purchases this today
    12V 72W 5050 Pure White 16.4Ft/5M 300SMD LED Strip Waterproof(IP-65)

The whole 16.4 Ft /5m is 4,200 Lumens
I plan to use a little less than 2m, which is 840 lumens. 800 lumens is equivalent of a 60 Watt Incandescent bulb.

I will post a picture after installation.

LED 5050's WHITE under desk. RGB for fish tank morning start, night end light.

I started playing with the LED strip lights. Bought a few rolls. 5050 RGB, 5050 Blue, and 5050 White.

I put two 2ft white strips under my desk, since I couldn't see the dam USB, OR SIM card slot on computer without full office lights on. Even then needed to stoop or shine my blackberry.
The LED did the job. Time to clean under desk

This setup is just a direct wiring from a 12 V AC adapter, through a spare household light switch.

When I ordered my RGB roll, I pick up two dimmers controllers (RF and IR). Both around $10. Go for RF so you don't have to point the remote directly at the sensor. RF goes through walls.
    IR AND RF remotes.jpg

Tried this on my SPS-ONLY tank as a morning, and end of night lights (blue). I actually like the LED blue compare to my Actinic VHO, since I can really dim down and still see the corals. With the BLUE LED setting I see polyps on my SPS that I normally don't see with my MH or VHO.

Plus you can have some fun with the other color choices with the controller. At first any color switch freeked the fish out. Now they don't care.

    Take care.

I need some help here. I have a 90 gal tank stand. I want to add some bright white lighting
Under cabinet. Must be waterproof. I’m so confused as to what lighting I should purchase. Want to use the lighting with either an on/off switch or with my breakout box. Can someone please help me out.

This is what I bought--works great, not expensive, self adhesive, will work with breakout box:

    MickeyR You could use something like this from Amazon and plug it into your energy bar to control off/on;

16.5 feet with 6500k which is very bright.

I put some of these in my new setup

    https://m.lowes.com/pd/Good-Earth-Li...bar/1000379677

they are put of the way, give great lighting, and wave a motion activator (you wave your hand infront of the sensor to turn on.

Sure beats pokinn around with a flashlight.
