    Need help setting up

Hey everyone. The time has come to install my new sump and I wanted to know if the apex eb8 bars can be used as regular outlets for the time being?

I don't plan on getting everything programmed until after I have everything in place.

Also which outlets r best for what equipment? I have a skimmer, Jabeo return pump, jager heater, 3 reef radiance lights, an ATO, and a fuge light.

Any advice would help me out a ton, thanks!

You can program each outlet to be always on in the interim:

    Fallback ON
    Set ON

There's a sticky in the EnergyBars subforum which has info about the two different outlet types outlets in an EB8

OK thank you. I'm 100% new to apex, I haven't even hooked this thing up to my computer yet. I guess I have to hook it up in order to update software and and program outlets right?

Yes and no You don't hook up the Apex to your computer - you connect it to your home network, and then access it using the computer. You can do some things through the display module.

Okay so I have a problem now. I connected my apex to my account with the token and all but it says I have to update the firmware but when I go to click on the flash zip file it takes me to a page where it says "oops! Something went wrong"... What do I do now?

Unzip the downloaded zip file to someplace on your PC. I typically unzip just to the desktop. Then go into that folder and run the flash utility.

How do I do that thought? I right clicked and it doesn't say unzip anywhere. Maybe "Save Link As"?

Simply clicking on the file on Neptune's web site should cause your browser to download it automatically. Where it puts that file depends on your browser and how you have it configured but usually there's a folder called 'Downloads'.

From that folder once it's downloaded you should be able to right-click on the file and select 'Extract'. It will prompt for a location to extract.

Once extracted, then navigate to the extracted folder and double click the Flash Utility executable.

But what I'm saying is when I click on the link to download it, the browser says "something went wrong error 404". It won't let me download it. This isn't my first zip file so I know how they work but I'm baffled as to why the link isn't working on the apex fusion page

Up at the top of this page, click on Neptune Links then the Firmware page. Try downloading it directly from there.

One way is to plug something like a night light into one of the outlets, try to turn it on/off via the dashboard, and you can figure it out that way, or unplug one EB8 and perform the same test to reduce the possibilities. Once you figure it out, best to physically label them.

Does the apex system have to be hooked up to Ethernet if you're just trying to program it? I got a Apex is disconnected message

Either or. To router is a lot easier.

Connect it to your router. Direct connection to a PC is not a normal way of doing it.

I suggest you make use of the Getting Started guides. You'll find it much easier than going back and forth here. http://www.neptunesystems.com/support/docs/

The link is for all Apex documentation. You can get to the graphic tutorial Guides by clicking the Getting Started image near the top of that page.
