That will exceed the 5A load rating of EB8 outlets 1-3, and 5-7. You can use outlets 4 or 8, which have a higher rating.
Please do not send me PMs with technical questions or requesting assistance - use the forums for Apex help. PM me ONLY if the matter is of a private or personal nature. Thanks.

What russ said. Make sure you watch your total load too since halides do not draw only 250W worth of amps (2.08) they actually draw closer 2.6 to 2.8 amps each. With 3 metal halides you can only safely have about 600-700 more watts before you trip your breaker or the fuse in the energy bar.

Before I switched to LED, I was running 2x 250w MH on a single EB8 outlet, and running the third on a slightly offset schedule on a second outlet - just to throw another option out there.

I would only do that on 4 or 8 for two combined. The single 250 could go on any outlet.

    I have a Hammerhead pump -
Draws about 3 amps while running but draws about 9 amps on start up.
Can I run it on #4 or #8 outlet or will it trip it?
    What other better option?
    Thanks

Outlet 4 and 8 on the EB8 are rated for 10A, so they should theoretically be ok.

Or there's outlet 3 on the EB4, rated for 12A.

4 and 8 only apply to EB8 not EB832 that you have listed on your profile. Any of the outlets in the EB832 can handle that level of startup current since it occurs for only a short time.
