    Old DC8 worn out plugs

    Hello all,

I have an old DC8 that I used with an aquacontroller jr for many years, it is now on my Apex. About half of the outlets have "worn out", meaning I don't get power to something that's plugged in, and I wiggle the plug and the device flips on and off meaning that the connection is unreliable.

Has anyone had this happen? Is there any way to repair it? I'm good with a soldering iron, but taking the thing apart posed somewhat of a challenge.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you,
    Whiskey

Spread the prongs on the plugs a bit.

In the long run you'd be better off replacing it with an EB8.

Yeah,.. I already did that - It worked for a year or two but even that got flaky eventually.
Your right, I'd be better off with a EB8, but they are not free if you know what I mean.

    Thanks,
    Whiskey

Ditto on Russ's comment. Loose connections can cause arcing which can lead to a fire and you don't want that. The same as with a household outlet, replace it. In this case with an EB8.

sounds like it might be an oxidation problem, try exercising the outlet.. literally plug a plug in and out a bunch of times. what it does is help to remove the oxidation that is preventing good contact. (could be a problem with the wiring too, but would be impossible for me to know with out opening and testing it.)
