Looking for hardware recommendation for alarm

I'd like some kind of simple noise maker that I can plug in to an energy bar outlet and activate as an alarm. Want something loud enough to wake me up that would only be used in critical emergency (water on the floor, no return flow, etc) situations. Just wanted to know if anyone else is using something for this purpose... I'll do some looking around at what's available on amazon.

I did a quick look and didn't see anything that was 120V. You may need to go with a low voltage DC unit and get a relay to be controlled by an outlet.

That should be loud enough .

Man I thought this would be simple but it's harder to find something suitable than I thought. That unit on Amazon is 120db which might be too loud. I looked it up and that equates to "loud rock concert" and another listing for the same item said it can be heard from half a mile away lol.

I wonder if I could use the 24v port on the FMM somehow.

Something like this could work if you want to use the 24V port. You would need a DC24 cable though.

This is a buzz not a siren, but is 85 dB which is louder than the display buzzer but not loud enough to have neighbors call the cops thinking your house is getting broken into like the 120dB one.

That looks pretty promising. So I would need to get the 24v power supply for the FMM in order to power the port, and then I would need to wire the buzzer to some connector in order to plug it into the FMM. Does anyone know what connector is needed to connect to the ACC port on the FMM?

There's a cable available for DIY connections.
Please do not send me PMs with technical questions or requesting assistance - use the forums for Apex help. PM me ONLY if the matter is of a private or personal nature. Thanks.

    Perfect, thanks!

Neptune, if you're listening, looks like this is something that could be thrown together commercially for pretty cheap and I think a lot of people might find it useful...

I bought one of these, 85db 3-7v and only £2.99
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/6v-miniature-buzzer-fl39n

I then found an old wall socket usb phone charger (5v) like this -
    https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....KL._SY300_.jpg

I then cut the usb cable and connected the black and red (power) usb wires to the buzzer wires.

Glued the buzzer onto the back of the plug giving me a self contained 85db alarm for only £2.99 which I then plugged into my Energy Bar

I then (with the help of Zombie) programed my Apex to give off a 2 second buzz every 5 seconds when the heat goes over 26 or under 24.

Billy, that sounds pretty slick! You made out cheaper than me!

Reporting back that my project was a success! I wired the buzzer zombie posted to the cable Russ posted - and picked up a power supply for the FMM to power it. Once the parts were here I had it assembled and installed in less than five minutes and it seems like it will be perfect for what I want!

    Thanks for everyone's help.
